Working out how and what to eat whilst training and racing is always high on any endurance athletes agenda.
These energy balls are complete real food and will help you sustain a high intensity level when pushing hard efforts.
However, never forget that good real food everyday nutrition will have you covered for most of your workouts. It is only on them workouts where you are really pushing your limits do you need extra to call on with these energy balls.
You'll need....
400grams pitted medjool dates
200grams chopped almonds
4 tablespoons raw cacao powder
2.5 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons almond butter
1 teaspoon of raw honey
Method...
In a food processor or powerful blender, put the almonds in first and pulse to a fine consistency.
Then add Dates & oil and let the blades do there thing on full power.
Lastly add the raw cacao, almond butter and honey.
Blend until its all mixed well.
Roll into sticky balls, place onto a lined tray and then freeze for a couple of hours.
Keep them in a sealed container in the fridge ready for eating when you are.
They will keep for ages and if you take them out with you just wrap in foil to save sticky jersey pockets 👍
Remember - these are full of natural carbohydrates, but don't go eating them all at once 😜 (best for high intensity / racing only).
